New Look Inspire Jersey Peplum Dress 18

Back in the summer I was looking for a smart dress that I could wear for work; something that was suitable for business meetings, conferences, and interviews. My problem is that business dresses are often made from non-stretchy materials, so I knew I would have to scour around to find something suitable.

When browsing the New Look website, I happened upon the New Look Inspire Jersey Peplum Dress (no longer available online but was £12.99, UK sizes 18-32 (it was also available on the ASOS website)).

Evans Scarlett & Jo Midnight 2-in-1 Lace Insert Peplum Dress 16

I have been fortunate enough to be able to try a number of Scarlett & Jo dresses this year and I was extremely excited when the latest one arrived by post a couple of weeks ago. The team had very kindly sent me the Scarlett & Jo Midnight 2-in-1 Lace Insert Peplum Dress (£45.00, UK sizes 14-32).

F&F Clothing Julia Peplum Ponte Dress

You may have noticed I've been giving peplum dresses a try lately (you can use the search box on the right to find all my peplum reviews on here if wished).  Peplums are something that until recently I thought were only for women with smaller hips but after trying a few different styles of peplums I must admit that I am quite the fan!

The one thing I hadn't found before was a peplum dress with a v-neck.  I'd seen heaps of peplum dresses with a high neck, a round neck or a slight scoop neck, but nothing at all with a crossover or v-neck.

You can imagine how thrilled I was when I spotted the Julia Peplum Ponte Dress on the F&F Clothing at Tesco website.

AX Paris Monochrome Dress

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the lovely people at AX Paris.  I have to admit that AX Paris wasn't a brand I was overly familiar with but I knew they had concessions in New Look, Republic, House of Fraser and Debenhams.

I don't tend to buy many items from 'trendy' brands as I always assume they won't suit me or have the right dimensions to be able to fit my proportions.  I was therefore a little hesitant to work with AX Paris but after a quick browse of their website I knew I could not turn down this opportunity.

After some deliberation, I decided to go for the Monochrome Dress in white and black in size 14.

Simply Be WOW Peplum Illusion Dress

What do you think about peplums?  My opinion varies, depending on who is wearing it and how.  For example, one of the local weather presenters on tv sometimes wears them and they look awful on her.  She is fairly tall and has a long torso but wears regular sized dresses (as opposed to those specifically for tall people) so they just don't sit in the right place on her.

I have never tried on a peplum skirt or dress myself.  I have been told that the purpose of a peplum is to highlight one's waist and/or hips...well, I am lucky enough to have been blessed with a figure that does just that all by itself, without the addition of a frill on my clothing.  But I have also been told that a peplum would look amazing on me so it's something I have wanted to try, merely out of curiosity.
