Late last year I was sent a number of items by the lovely Pink Clove PR team, and today I am going to share with you the Pleated Skater Skirt With Contrast Waistband (now sold out in pink but was £14.00, UK sizes 16-28).

I must admit that when I first received this skirt I wasn't convinced at all. I don't wear skirts too often as I usually opt for dresses, and also the pale pink colour didn't immediately appeal to me. However, I donned my Pink Clove Zip Shoulder Sleeveless Cowl Top (no longer available) and some nude heels, and I was good to go!

I really love how the boldness of the black top contrasts against the delicate powder pink of the skirt. I think it works really well and my nude shoes keep the attention on my clothing rather than drawing the eye to my feet.
The skirt is made from a soft and stretchy jersey fabric (96% polyester, 4% elastane) that is fairly thick but without being heavy. It has a black elastic waistband so you can get a comfortable and perfect fit on your waist. There are soft pleats that come out from the waist band, and these give the skirt a bit of poufiness (is that a word?!) without adding bulk.
Lengthwise the skirt hits me just above the knee, and for reference I am about 5'5 in height. The model in the stock photo is wearing the skirt lower than I am - I like my skirts and belts to be on my natural waist (the narrowest part) - so it looks a similar length on her as it does on me, despite the fact she is 5'9.
The elastic waistband is great but I wanted to accentuate it to ensure that it wasn't lost amongst the black of my top and so I added a simple black belt from Primark. I think it's a great addition and works really well with the overall look of the outfit. The touch of gold on the belt adds a splash of glamour and shine to my otherwise fairly muted look.
This skirt is perfect for year-round wear but I think it is especially suited to spring as the weather starts to improve and the temperatures get a bit higher. The soft pink is reminiscent of new blooms on trees and flowers budding from their stems, so it's really fresh and pretty.
