I don't usually blog midweek as I prefer to wait until the weekend so I have more time to think about what I want to say. However, today I made a bargainous discovery that I wanted to share as soon as I could.
A little while ago I posted a review of the Maidenform Flexees Shaping Leggings I'd bought from Figleaves. I have come to love these leggings and wear them an awful lot around the house. Admittedly, I haven't worn them out in public all that much but I have been brave enough to do so twice and I was surprised but thrilled to find that no-one stared at my awful legs or laughed or made hurtful comments.
In my original review I should have said that the leggings are designed to be 3/4 length or 'cropped'. But, if you put them on in the right way, they can be full-length leggings. I find the way to do it is to put them on a bit like tights - gather one of the legs up bit by bit between your hands, put your foot through the leg and start unravelling the leggings from your ankle upwards. You might need to stretch and pull a little but, once in place, the leggings should stay as full-length all day :-)
A week or so ago I had to send one of the pairs of leggings back to Figleaves as after only wearing and washing them once they had developed a hole in the seam on the inside leg. I guessed this must have been a manufacturing fault as the other pair have been worn several times and are absolutely fine.
Figleaves were brilliant about this - I used their 'live help' option on their website and had an instant messaging conversation with a very helpful lady. She advised me to send the leggings via freepost back to them so that they could assess the damage and decide what to do. I completed the returns form which had been included in my original parcel and sent the leggings off as instructed.
Within two working days I had received a confirmation email from Figleaves saying that they had received my return and would let me know once the situation had been investigated.
Another two working days later I had an email to say that they agreed with me about the fault. On the returns note I'd had to specify whether I wanted an exchange or refund. At the time I had wanted an exchange but the email stated that they had no more stock of the leggings and so would issue a refund instead.
Normally I would have been disappointed at not having a replacement pair but actually it turned out rather well in the end.
Whilst all the above was going on, a lovely friend of mine told me that she'd bought some Maidenform leggings from T K Maxx. I asked her if they were the same as the ones I'd reviewed and she said yes. She'd paid just £12.99 for them.
Today was the first opportunity I'd had to pay my local T K Maxx a visit since our conversation. I spent quite some time trawling through the rails in the shapewear section and was disappointed not to find any Flexees by Maidenform. However, after a careful second look, I found several pairs of 'Get The Skinny / Sweet Nothings' leggings (NB this is a US Walmart website link) which looked identical to my Maidenforms. I checked the label and it turns out this brand is part of the Maidenform label. So I bought myself 4 pairs - a snip at only £12.99 each! And I'm thrilled to know that they will last and last.
So, if you are looking for some of these leggings, make sure you check out your local T K Maxx and have a good look in the shapewear section!
