I originally tried the dresses in a size 16, but found them very snug on the boobs so I sized up to 18 and they were much more comfortable.
For reference, in these photos I am wearing my Ewa Michalak PL Jagodzianki Bra 34KK/75KK and Briefs 16/44, some plain black tights from The Big Tights Company, and black stiletto heels from Primark.
These dresses are made from a stretchy fabric (95% polyester, 5% elastane) that is soft and comfortable to wear. The material is embellished with black flocking and glitter, which I am afraid goes absolutely everywhere on the first couple of wears, but after that it settles down and shedding is minimal. I wore these dresses over the Christmas period when there seems to be sparkle and glitter all around, so no-one realised any rogue spots of glitter on sofas or tables were from my dress! The fabric is quite thick so this dress would not be suitable for wearing in warmer weather, but of course this is not a concern at this chilly time of year. It is perfect for the festive season, however, thanks to its glitteriness and the wintry colours of the dresses.
The Glitter Flocked Skater Dress has a scooped neck that is not especially low cut but does allow for just a hint of cleavage to be seen. I think it is perfect as the dress could look frumpy were it cut any higher on the neckline, and thanks to its glitteriness the dress isn't really suitable for work so there's no need to think about modesty in the workplace with this one.
The flared skirt is typical of the skater dress design and I love how wide and flared this one is. Length-wise it stops an inch or two above my knees, which is shorter than I'd like, so I will definitely always wear tights or leggings with this dress. Again, as this is definitely a party dress or one for a special occasion, this is not a problem.
Yours Clothing make a number of skater dresses and in fact I bought a few from there myself in the summer. They are not all identical in cut and style, but generally they are very good. One aspect of the fit that particularly impresses me is the armholes. So many sleeveless dresses have armholes that are far too big (I'm looking at you, Forever 21 and Simply Be, to name but two...) and so one's bra straps and sometimes the bra itself are on display, which is not a look I go for. It's so disappointing to have to decide not to purchase a dress because of oversized armholes, especially when the fit everywhere else is pretty much spot on, but I have found this is far too often the case. It's not an issue that's limited to plus size retailers, either, as I have had to turn down purchases from Wallis and Dorothy Perkins in the past for this very reason. Thankfully, the vast majority of Yours Clothing's skater dresses seem to have armholes that are perfectly cut - large enough to allow for chubby biceps and bingo wings, but small enough to keep one's undergarments properly covered. In a few of my photos above, you may see just a hint of my bra, but most of the time I am covered very decently by this dress, both at the armholes and also on the back of the dress at the shoulder blades.
The size 18 was a great fit on my bust, but it was very roomy on the waist. These dresses each come with a thin patent belt, but I preferred using a plain black belt from one of my Pinup Girl Clothing Heidi dresses instead. The belt pulls the dress in at the waist perfectly, helping to show my hourglass figure in all its glory.
Sleeveless dresses are great, but of course there are times when a girl needs an extra layer for warmth, so of course I went for a shrug. This one is a simple black jersey shrug from online plus size retailer Pink Clove.
The plain black shrug works well with the dresses and provides some much-needed arm coverage on colder days. I also have a black velvet shrug (again from Pink Clove) that looks very good as an alternative option.
There is also a red version of the dress available here (sizes 14-32; was £35, now on sale in limited sizes at £18.40); I did try it on but found this particular hue of red was not right on me so I didn't keep it.
I really love my Glitter Flocked Skater Dresses and every time I wear one of them I get compliments from strangers, so they must be special! I have actually worn them to work a few times in December and January, so although I said the glitteriness makes them not suitable for work I have disproved this theory already!
